Christmas is Coming

I know it's early days till, but before you know it, it will come and go.

I am preparing myself now early so that I can fully enjoy the season with my family. In the past, it was all about wishing that it did not come so early because it meant a financial commitment of presents for your family and loved ones. It was always stressful because at times cash was hard to come by and the pressure to please was there. This year will be different. I'm going to soak in the atmosphere and enjoy it fully with everyone who is important to me. There is nothing more important than family and these past few years have proven, for me at least, that if everything goes wrong in your life, your family will be there through thick and thin.

This Christmas season, I pray to God that all of us have a chance to experience the joy and love of being together as a family.

This song from Josh Groban starts the feeling of the season for me. I dedicate this song to all of you. Have a happy and Merry Christmas ahead.

Man with 2 arseholes

Ahmad died in a fire and his body was so badly burned that the morgue
needed someone to identify the body.
As he had no family, they called up his two best friends, Ah Beng and
Kumar.
Ah Beng went in first and the mortician pulled back the sheet.
Ah Beng said, "Wah-lau-eh, he's very barbecued like cha siu.? But if
you would roll him over, I will tell you if he's my friend Ahmad or
not."
The mortician rolled the body over.

Ah Beng looked at his arse and said, "Heng-ah! No-lah, dat not Ahmad."
The mortician was puzzled how he was so sure but he didn't say
anything.
He went and got Kumar to check the body.
Kumar looked closely and said, "Aiyoyo, it is true he's burnt very bad,
but need you to roll him over and I can confirm if he's my friend,
Ahmad."
Again the mortician rolled the body over. Kumar looked down at the ass
and said, "Aiyoyo, oh no no, this is definitely not Ahmad."

The mortician, unable to suppress his curiosity any longer, said,
"Okay, you have to tell me now - how can you and Ah Beng tell for sure
this is
not Ahmad?"
Kumar said, "Well, this Ahmad, he had two arseholes." "What?!!" the
mortician said in disbelief, "He had two arseholes?!"

"Oh yes, everyone in the neighbourhood knows this. Every time the three
of  us go out, people always say, ' Here comes Ahmad with the two
arseholes."

Facebook

Facebook .. It's quite addictive really.

I have not had so much fun nor met as many old friends in a long time.
Someone's got it right here and I think this space is far superior than
Friendster.

Perhaps this is right up my target demographic and perhaps Friendster
is still hip among the young, but who cares, it works for me!

Anyway, like any other public forum, it is a double edged sword, people
that you've been trying to avoid will inevitably pop up. But for me the
benefits far outweigh the risks and I must say I am pleased to have
"bumped" into some of my mates that I've not seen for years.

Hooray for Facebook, I'll be here for awhile!

My Dog ... Austin

For the last 8 years, this dog has been the guy in the background. Always happy to see me when I come home, never angry when I "torture" him e.g. making him dance the salsa like Elmo in Sesame Street. But as irritating as he is when he is up to his antics of masturbating on my toe, bum surfing all over the house, shedding his fur, he remains this adorable friend that will always be by your side.

We do give him a bath every week and this time after his bath, we decided to dress him up as Yoda from Star Wars ... he he he ...

Took a picture of him with my phone. Can you see the frustration on his face? Hahahahaha!!!

Still he is ever so adorable and the best part is that he does not hold grudges!!!!

It's been awhile ...

Indeed. It has been awhile since my last post.

Since then, many things have happened in my life, career ...

Business has not been as good as I had imagined after "merging" with
a trusted partner.

I thought to myself, "Ah, at least some semblance of a profitable and
stable business." After 10 months, accusations came from all
directions that I have mismanaged the business and not done enough to
ensure that the business remains viable.

"Shit", I thought to myself, I'm being screwed again! Sigh, the one
lesson that I have learnt in running a business, never, never enter
into a partnership unless, the prospects are too irresistible to
ignore or someone is willing to put in a shit load of money with no
strings - Haha, wishful thinking .. or maybe in a perfect world?

So, I'm alone again, picking up the pieces again, feeling abandoned,
used and taken for a ride.

For most people though, or at least the weaker ones, they would give
up, crawl under a dark space and hide for the rest of their lives in
their shadow of failure. Not me, frustrating as it seems, I will
continue the fight to survive. Not to prove anything, but because I
believe in myself and I know that there is something here to develop.
It's my destiny, you could say.

I know it's been tough. People my age, or my peers at least, have
progressed in their careers, earning commendable salaries, and me,
sometimes, not having a dime in my pocket to have lunch. But should I
feel envy? Should I be jealous of my far better of friends? Hmmm ...
I had a chat with one of them the other day. He is typical of the
type that I had mentioned before. Good education, climbed the
corporate ladder. He is definitely someone, the headhunters would
want to keep in their database.

So why did he seem dazed? Why did he seem lost? Yes, he said it. He
was going through an identity crisis. He is at the crossroads of his
life. A little jaded with the current career and with not much idea
where to progress from here. You could say that he has reached the
top of his learning curve and has nothing really to look forward to
in life.

I asked him why he was not happy? He said, that I may have the idea
that he has "made it in life" but he said at that point, he would
rather throw everything away and become a taxi driver ... simple and
straight. Drive passengers to their destination and the only person
you have to answer to is yourself.

He said that the stress that he has to endure, not only fulfilling
his job's expectations, but the expectations of at least 10 other
people .. peers, bosses from other departments, clients etc etc, is
perhaps not worth the pay that he is earning.

So, we all can be unhappy and say that the grass is always greener on
the other side.

Truth is ... it isn't. Appreciate what you have, no matter how little
it is. Someone's always got it worse!

A Test and True Luck

A funny story I lifted from the internet ...

I was a very happy person. My wonderful girlfriend and I had been dating for over a year, and so we decided to get married. There was only one little thing bothering me ... it was her beautiful younger sister.

My prospective sister-in-law was twenty-two, wore very tight miniskirts, and generally was braless. She would regularly bend down, when she was near me, and I always got more than a pleasant view. It had to be deliberate. She never did it when she was near anyone else.

One day, "little" sister called and asked me to go over to check the wedding invitations. She was alone, when I arrived, and she whispered to me that she had feelings and desires for me that she couldn't overcome. She told me that she wanted to make love to me just once, before I got married and committed my life to her sister. Well, I was in total shock, and couldn't say a word. She said, "I'm going upstairs to my bedroom and if you want one last wild fling, just come up and get me."

I was stunned and frozen in shock, as I watched her go up the stairs. When she reached the top, she pulled off her panties and threw them down the stairs at me. I stood there for a moment, then turned and made a beeline straight to the front door.

I opened the door, and headed straight towards my car. Lo and behold, my entire future family was standing outside, all clapping! With tears in his eyes, my father-in-law hugged me and said, "We are very happy that you have passed our little test.....we couldn't ask for a better man for our daughter. Welcome to our family!!!"

And the moral of this story is: Always keep your condoms in your car!

Singapore Idol 2006 - Not Gurmit again!

Yes, It has been confirmed. Singapore Idol is going to be hosted by
none other than ... Gurmit Singh!

Yikes! It looks like we're gonna have to endure his unintelligible
banter and mispronunciations this year as well! I have nothing against
the bloke personally, but I think he shouldn't venture beyond the
boundaries of his yellow boots and "raisin" looking mole role, PCK!

Frankly, I'm getting so sick and tired of seeing his face at every English
language event programme that I am tempted to switch to my Star World
or AXN. I'd rather see a re-run of Starship Enterprise than to put up
with his, "I WANT TO HEAR YOU SCREAM, SINGAPORE!!!!!" once again. Take for example, the New Year Show that we had just two days ago. I knew that he was on, so I turned to ESPN and watched European soccer until it was 5 minutes to midnight and forced myself to endure him usher 2006 in! WTF!

I can only attribute to him being on Singapore Idol again because Mediacorp pays him a salary, therefore, with nothing else for him to do ... make him host lah! What else? They even filled him in a leading role in "Lifeline" and all I can say that the series is in bad need of a defibrillator ... Stat!!!!

There are others out there, Mediacorp!!! Daniel Ong, Glenn Ong, Adrian
Pang ... the list goes one. Goodness, even the Flying Dutchman would
have been a better choice.

Alas, all these will fall on deaf ears as Mediacorp knows best, isn't
it? Sigh ....

It's a Brand New Year!

To all my readers, A Happy New Year 2006!

As we head into this new year, I can only wish that we continue to
enjoy peace and prosperity as we did in the past year, 2005.

Blogging has been a new past time for me and I hope to carry it on
faithfully into the new year as well.

Looking back, I can only say that amidst the natural disasters, civil
and political unrest, and growing poverty in third world countries, I
count myself lucky, fortunate and blessed to be living in a country
that ensures it's citizens stay happy and given ample opportunities to
make a living for themselves.

I am sure that many human rights and political detractors will disagree
but I for one, can say that I am thankful for the way my country is
being run.

I have had my share of ups and downs this year and my goal is to
capitalize on my strengths and learn from the mistakes that I have done
and grow from there.

So, for all Singaporeans who continue to complain, take a step back and
reflect on your blessings and appreciate the peace and stability that
we often take for granted.

While I agree that there could be more improvements but count yourself
lucky because Big Brother is indeed looking out for you. Being involved
in community work for the poor, I am indeed impressed with the measures
and avenues that are in place to cater for all those who have been left
behind.

So as we head into a brand new year, let's make a difference in
someone's life with a significant contribution to the betterment of our
society.

Cheers!
